Andhra Pradesh’s innovation ecosystem received a significant boost as the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) in Tirupati inaugurated a new Idea Lab and Studio Room. This will create a dedicated space for innovators, researchers, students, and startup founders to transform ideas into market-ready solutions.
The newly launched Idea Lab has been designed to help innovators move from ideation to prototyping by providing access to infrastructure, mentorship, and collaborative innovation resources. The facility will support students, entrepreneurs, and startup teams in designing, testing, and refining new technologies before taking them to market.
It’s Studio Room will serve as a digital storytelling and content creation center. The facility will enable startups to create podcasts, founder interviews, product demonstrations, investor pitches, and multimedia content aimed at increasing visibility and attracting investment.
During the inauguration, several innovations developed under RTIH’s ecosystem were showcased. These included Squint Sense, an AI-powered portable device designed to detect strabismus (eye misalignment), an intelligent rehabilitation glove for stroke recovery patients, Infra Robot for underground drainage inspection and maintenance, and UniHub, an AI-enabled hardware development platform. The projects highlight the growing focus on deep-tech solutions emerging from Tier-2 innovation centers in India.
Speaking on the occasion, RTIH Chief Executive Officer Vijayawanth Mathur said the Idea Lab would help innovators convert concepts into functional prototypes, while the Studio Room would enable them to communicate their innovations effectively to investors, industry stakeholders, and the public.
The launch comes at a time when Andhra Pradesh is aggressively expanding its startup ecosystem through the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub network. Established as the state’s flagship innovation initiative, RTIH operates through a hub-and-spoke model with centers across Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Rajamahendravaram, Tirupati, and Anantapur. The initiative focuses on deep-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, robotics, and emerging technologies.
For India’s innovation ecosystem, the significance of the new facilities extends beyond infrastructure. Startup support organizations are increasingly moving beyond traditional ncubation models by combining prototyping facilities, mentorship programs, funding access, and content creation capabilities under one roof.
