India is taking a major step toward future-ready education. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computational Thinking (CT) from Class 3. This will come into effect starting the 2026–27 academic session.

What’s changing >>
The curriculum will embed CT across subjects in early grades, focusing on problem-solving, logic, and pattern recognition. As students progress, they will be introduced to foundational AI concepts such as data literacy, basic statistics, and ethical use of technology.

Why this change matters >>
This move positions AI as a foundational skill, on par with literacy and numeracy. This shift aims at building critical thinking. It also prepares students for an AI-driven economy. It reflects India’s broader education reforms under NEP 2020, focusing on early exposure to emerging technologies and ethical innovation.
