CBSE Science Challenge 2026–27 registration has opened for students of Classes 8, 9 and 10 studying in CBSE-affiliated schools. The challenge is designed to encourage scientific curiosity, critical thinking, inquiry and problem-solving skills among school students. It will be conducted in two stages — a school-level Round 1 followed by an inter-school Round 2 organised by CBSE.
Participation in both rounds is free. However, students cannot register individually; their schools must complete the registration process.
Who can participate in the CBSE Science Challenge?

Students studying in Classes 8, 9 and 10 in CBSE-affiliated schools are eligible for the first round. Schools are required to register through the designated CBSE Science Challenge portal.
What are the important dates?
| Stage | Date |

How will the CBSE Science Challenge work?
Round 1: School level
The first round will be conducted within participating schools using a question paper provided by CBSE. The assessment will contain stimulus-based multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and students will have a maximum of 60 minutes to complete the task.
The first round tests both accuracy and speed. Students who achieve the highest scores will receive priority during selection.
Round 2: Inter-school challenge
Each participating school can nominate six students for the second round. The selection is:
- Two students from Class 8
- Two students from Class 9
- Two students from Class 10
These students must have participated in the first round. Round 2 will be conducted as a computer-based challenge during the tentative November 30–December 4 window.
How can schools register?
- Visit the CBSE Science Challenge portal.
- Log in using their List of Candidates (LOC) credentials.
- Enter the number of students participating in Round 1.
- Complete registration by October 30, 2026.
Will students receive certificates?
Yes. Students who participate in Round 2 will receive an online participation certificate from CBSE. The Board will also award Appreciation Certificates to the best-performing students.
Why is the CBSE Science Challenge worth watching?
For students interested in science, engineering, technology or research, it provides an opportunity to test these skills beyond regular classroom assessments.
