The High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), a premier laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications for its 2026-27 paid internship programme. This is an opportunity for engineering students to work on advanced defence technologies and energetic materials research.

HEMRL, located in Pune, plays a critical role in India’s defence research ecosystem.

The laboratory is engaged in the design, formulation and development of propellants, high explosives, pyrotechnics, polymeric materials, liners, insulators and other high-energy systems. These power modern defence platforms. Its work also includes combustion studies, detonation phenomena and the development of next-generation energetic materials.
