Tim Berners-Lee didn’t just invent a technology – he created a global ecosystem of knowledge and connection. He chose tech for all over profit and ensured that the web became one of humanity’s most powerful tools.

Top five achievements:

1. Inventor of the World Wide Web
In 1989, while working at CERN, Berners-Lee proposed a global system that allowed information to be shared through hyperlinked documents – what we now call the World Wide Web.
2. Creator of core web technologies (HTML, HTTP, URLs)
He developed the foundational technologies that power the web:
HTML (structure of web pages)
HTTP (communication protocol)
URLs (web addresses)
3. Built the first web browser and server
Between 1990–1991, he created the first-ever web browser and server, enabling users to access and share information online.
4. Founded the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
In 1994, he established the World Wide Web Consortium to standardize web technologies and ensure the web remains open and accessible.
5. Made the web free for everyone
One of his most impactful decisions was to make the web royalty-free, allowing global adoption and explosive growth without restrictions.

His work’s impact:|
1. Revolutionized global communication
The web transformed how humans connect, communicate, and collaborate—making information instantly accessible worldwide.
2. Democratized knowledge
From education to research, the web broke barriers, enabling free flow of information across borders and communities.
3. Powered the digital economy
E-commerce, social media, digital marketing, and remote work—all exist because of the web’s infrastructure.
4. Enabled innovation across industries
From healthcare to entertainment, nearly every modern innovation builds on web-based systems and connectivity.
5. Advocates for an open & ethical internet
Even today, Berners-Lee works to protect the web’s future, promoting privacy, decentralization, and user control over data
